Pre-Placement Prefabs

For: Basic Haptic Templates

These VRCFury Prefabs, in conjunction with "Basic Haptic Templates", bring Drag and Drop contact receivers to any pre-defined avatar. The list is growing...

Required:
Basic understanding of adding props to avatars in Unity.
Uploaded and functioning avatar, with no errors.

Required: "Basic Haptic Templates" (FREE)Required: VRCFury

Haptic hardware that works over OSC in some way. Personally, for SFW I use

Giggletech

Looking to simplify adding Contact Receivers to your avatar, for those ever so nice Haptic Touches?

Belly Rubs, Head Pats, Nose Boops, everything in between, including...the tail? Yeap! Tail Touch (no grab)!

Though today's initial release, April 11, 2025, not April 1st mind you, is first draft setups of many base avatars:

Not all Basic Haptic Template prefabs are pre-place. As the base model lists expand, and see what's more common, I'll expand to adding the other haptics.
At this time, HeadPats, NoseBoops, BellyRubs, TailTouch, and LowerMassage.
Others of Basic Haptic Templates may be added later on. Can be otherwise manually placed just like a normal prop.

Base Avatar not yet listed? Hit me up on Discord, LigerXT5, and I'll see what I can do.
- Do be aware, per base avatar setups are case by case, mostly due to costs. I'm not interested in spending $50 on a base avatar, when only a couple people are using the avatar. Avatar creators, I'd be happy to setup the templates for your avatars, I just need the avatar body and armature, texture/mats help key in placement too but not entirely required.

First and foremost, though this project, and others I make, should not negatively effect your avatar or project, it is important to...

Backup, Backup, BACKUP!

Either that's telling VCC to backup your project, OR, duplicate your Avatar in the Hierarchy panel and disable the "original" copy.

Install:

Presuming you've imported your avatar, and uploaded without issues, and have VRCFury and both the "Basic Haptic Templates" and Premade for Avatar Bases" imported, the concept is a bit simpler than slapping a random prop to your avatar.

  1. Drag each Haptic Template's Avatar Placement prefab to the Root Level of your Armature and Body, not within the Armature.

  2. Review the Bubble placements to fit your needs, and upload. VRCFury does the rest on upload.

In-game:

(Detailed more on Basic Haptic Template's store page.)
While in-game, a new menu has been included in your radial Expressions, called Haptics. This is where you can toggle on/off the selective haptics, as well as manually test (best to disable the haptic for a smoother test experience), and if using Giggletech's Haptics you can dial in the Max Intensity. Don't want your HeadPats vibrating your headset off your head!
Personally, the view blurs around 25% intensity, doesn't matter if I wear my prescription lenses, lol.

FAQs

Q: "How efficient in rating are these?"
A: All contact receivers are set to Local (Green Below), meaning they do not count against your rating. BUT, this does come with a draw back. Anyone who's used the Avatar Overlay (hand radial tools), to see Contact Receivers, they will not see your (haptic) Contact Receivers.

Q: "What "activates" the haptics when touched?"
A: By default, I've left these to just Fingers and Hands (Red Above). Feet, Nose, Head, etc. are not detected.
BUT, some avatar uploads, other users, Might have a finger-collider in their feet and nose.

Q: "When I touch the areas, nothing happens?"
A: Due to frequent "false positive" activation, "Allow Self" (Green Above) is disabled.

Q: "What if my avatar already has nose/head/belly contact receivers?"
A: I've seen this on a few avatars I own, and the setup can be "merged" in, however, every avatar developer has their own ways to do things. If you're looking to make your avatar as efficient as possible, I'm happy to help! I've merged in the very same Haptic Templates with a couple of avatars I commonly use, as well as making custom animations (ears dip in line with Head Pat depth).
- Side Note: I've had one avatar where "depth" (Proximity, ranging 0-100%) isn't used, but "on touch" instead (Constant, On/Off or 0/100% detection), and converted these over (Murto is my new main, and this did take some time), which allows normal animations to trigger, while still having that same, consistent, use across many avatars.

Q: "When I import the Avatar Placement prefabs, some are stuck to my feet. Why?"
A: Due to the nature of how Unity's editor displays things, and VRCFury's Armature Linking kicks in during Play Test/Upload, things do not already line up in the editor. Hit "Play", and they'll snap into place.
This mainly effects the Basic Haptics with "ADV" in the name. These are prefabs with more than one contact receiver in place, such as the Tail below. Future Pre-Placed additions, such as EarPlay, ChestMassage, and RearMassage, will appear very much the same.

Unity Editor view of Contact Receivers, vs Unity Play Test/Upload.

Q: "What if a pre-placement is off, and I want to move it?"
A: Just like any prop, select the haptic, just use the arrows to adjust the placement. No need to edit the Armature.
This can be touch and go with the "ADV" labeled prefabs, hit me up and I'll help guide you. It's possible, I just need to make better, use friendly, instructions...

Q: "Limited to just Giggletech Haptics?"
A: NO! Excuse me...No, these are simple contact receivers prefabs, the 1-contact receiver prefabs have their own Parameter read over OSC, while the prefabs with 2 or more contact receivers (ADV in their name), work through the animator to control the prefab's one or two OSC parameters. Yes, even adult haptics over OSC can be activated.

Base Avatar List:

Not quite a dozen, yet, I've collected avatar models over the years, but rarely go out of my way to buy (no, not pirating!). I've worked with a few friends to test some of these.
Please be aware, avatars with Wide tails, or few bones in said tail, tend to be a bit tricky during my setups.

Much all other placements, I'm open to hear what others say and suggest for positioning and sizing.

Note: Listings with
(*1) were assisted by friends, though setup the same, I do not own or live tested these myself.
(*2) have two sets of the TailTouch, pending if you want MANY or Fewer contact points

Dergotoy 1.10
Diera 1.3.1 (*1)
Hobbert:
- Arflin 2022
- Mewlin 2022
- Hobkin (In the works!)
Mayu 1.32 (*1)
Novabeast 1.0 (*2)
Wickerbeast (No idea of version...) (*1)

Though I have screenshots of each, I don't see the need to over-bloat the page listing here.
If anyone thinks I should have at least some avatar screenshots here, like the Dergotoy, let me know!
